Netflix wordt van de troon gestoten: Disney+ komt in februari met deze 345 (!) 18+ tv-series en films

Netflix is nog altijd de koning in de streamingwereld met bijna 200 miljoen betalende abonnees. Disney+ dat pas sinds 2019 beschikbaar is en nog maar enkele maanden in België zit ondertussen al aan meer dan 75 miljoen abonnees. Een aanzienlijk verschil nog, maar op korte termijn toch al een straffe prestatie. Bij Disney zijn ze echter nog lang niet tevreden en ze zijn absoluut van plan om Netflix van hun troon te stoten.

Hun verwachting is dat ze dit ook daadwerkelijk zullen doen in 2023 of 2024. Ze verwachten namelijk dat ze wereldwijd aan minstens 345 miljoen abonnees zitten binnen 4 jaar. De verwachting bij Netflix is dat ze dan rond de 300 miljoen abonnementen zitten. Maar hoe gaat Disney+ in godsnaam die kloof overbruggen?

Disney+ komt eind februari met honderden extra series en films

Bij het megabedrijf Disney kondigde ze vorige maand alvast aan dat ze maar liefst 15 miljard dollar gaan pompen in nieuwe series en films te maken voor hun streaming platform. Het gaat hier niet enkel om Marvel, Disney, Star Wars en National Geographic. Vanaf 23 februari komen ze namelijk met een nieuwe subcategorie genaamd ‘Star’. Eentje die een groter publiek moet aanspreken en vooral voor volwassenen bedoeld is.

Om even aan te geven hoe gigantisch groot dit zal worden. De huidige catalogus van Disney+ wordt de komende tijd gewoon verdubbeld. Er zullen in het komende jaar meer dan 1.000 nieuwe series en films worden toegevoegd. Dat is nog altijd niet zo imposant als de Netflix-catalogus, maar het kan toch al stevig beginnen tellen.

Vanaf 23 februari beginnen ze alvast met 345 (!) extra tv-series en films in de nieuwe Star-categorie van Disney+ toe te voegen. Hieronder alvast de gehele lijst die ze vandaag hebben onthuld. Meest in het oog springende series zijn 24, Lost, How I Met Your Mother, Prison Break, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Family Guy, Big Sky, The X-Files en The Walking Dead. Ook de filmcatalogus ziet er de moeite uit.
